
I kept telling myself ‘You should be able to do this’, but I found out I have ADHD and chronic anxiety and that explains a lot. If I didn’t have ADHD, I think I would be better at reading, so it’s kind of funny I chose this specialization that requires a lot of reading. Nothing sticks sometimes.
The Study Advisor offered me support in the shape of a Study Advice Course – some type of workshop – but I couldn’t go because it was during my classes.
The UvA has also offered me exam accommodations and I’m happy my professors think with me about extensions and deadlines. I get fifteen minutes extra at exams which already really helps me out. The UvA has been the most open place I have been at ever to disabilities.
If you’re starting here, I think right a t the signup page it says you can let them know if you have a neurodivergence. There’s this online call in the beginning which you can join for more information, that was nice.
My main advice would be: talk to your study advisor, e-mail your lecturers. They’re very understanding and nice.
