Workshop: Men as Part of the Solution

As part of the Orange the World campaignExternal link, the Central Diversity Office and EmancipatorExternal link are organising a workshop on men as allies. Emancipator is an organisation that involves boys and men in gender equality and explores the role of masculinity. Participants of all genders will explore how cis men can be part of the solution by showing solidarity and taking an active role.

What will we do?

• Get to know Emancipator and explore what emancipation can mean for men.
• Explore how diversity and inclusion go beyond representation: who has space, influence and power?
• Look at how ideas about masculinity and femininity affect us. We will discuss the man box: restrictive expectations about how men should behave, and the possibilities that open up when we move beyond them.
• Reflect on gender norms in small groups: how do you notice them in your life, what could you do differently, and how can you support others (especially men) to do the same?
