During this first edition of What Now? we dive into the housing crisis. How come you can't afford a house? Is there still a way out? We look for answers to these questions together with journalist Maaike Schoon and others.

We will talk to journalist Maaike Schoon about her just-published book Why You Can't Afford a House, and then talk further with UvA researcher Wouter van Gent about how the housing crisis could have arisen and what it means for you. The evening will be closed by Krish Raghav, who designed the game Don't Get Your Hopes UpExternal link. In this game, you step into the shoes of a tenant looking for an affordable house in Amsterdam and experience how impossible that mission sometimes feels.
