How do independent publications transform printed matter into a site of play, questioning, experimentation, resistance and radical knowledge production? The exhibition Printed Matters: The Politics and Aesthetics of Independent Publications explores independent publishing as a practice in which aesthetic experimentation and political struggle are inseparable.

Printed Matters invites you to experience the intimate and political nature of independent publishing, to touch, hold and browse printed matter and contextual material, and to engage with less hierarchical, more embodied forms of knowledge production and authorship. Throughout its two-week duration, the exhibition will remain active through workshops on printmaking, editing and publishing transform its space into a living learning environment — part exhibition, part fair, part communal gathering.
