This study examined the relationship between childhood trauma and suicidal ideation. Specifically, it investigated whether the Vulnerable Child and Healthy Adult schema modes help explain this relationship. The study explored whether childhood trauma increases suicidal ideation through greater Vulnerable Child activation and reduced Healthy Adult functioning, and whether a stronger Healthy Adult mode protects against the impact of Vulnerable Child activation on suicidal ideation.
