Childhood trauma has been linked to both depression and cardiovascular disease (CVD), and depression is associated with an elevated risk of CVD. However, it remains unclear whether the course of depression moderates the association between childhood trauma and CVD. This thesis examined whether two depression courses, single-episode/late-onset versus constant/recurrent depression, moderate the relationship between childhood trauma and CVD in UK biobank participants.
