This thesis presentation will be about how international relocation affects the mental health of Third Culture Kids. Specifically, I will examine whether objective relocation history (how often and how recently children have moved countries) or the subjective experience of those relocations (how positive or negative they felt) better predicts internalizing symptoms. Using data from students at an international school in the Netherlands, I test whether subjective appraisals explain additional variance in internalizing problems beyond objective relocation history, to better understand why some TCKs struggle while others thrive.
