Literature from Central and Eastern Europe is booming. In nostalgic books, novels about trauma and identity, and as mediators between the east and the west of Europe, writers such as Olga Tokarczuk, Andrey Kurkov, and Georgi Gospodinov document a region in development.

On 7 May, the yearly State of the European Literature will take place with Georgi Gospodinov. In the run-up to this interview, Jesse van Amelsvoort, Everdien Rietstap, and Anna Seidl are organising a book club for students. Together with students from the entire faculty, you will discuss Gospodinov's work and the broader Central and Eastern European literature. Explore topics such as the relations between East and West Europe, translations and the literary field, and Gospodinov's award-winning Time Shelter.

You can end the book clubwith a meeting with Georgi Gospodinov himself on 7 May.
