This morning, we’ll be working together to record as many species of insects and animals as possible. In this way, we’ll be carrying out an important baseline survey of biodiversity at this site, even before construction of the new Hortus Medicus begins.

Using this data, we will be able to monitor the impact of the new plantings from the Hortus Medicus on the garden’s natural environment over the coming years: which species remain, which new species appear, and how the ecosystem changes. Will you help us?

We are carrying out this research in collaboration with Copijn Landscape Architects and UvA researchers from IBED, RAVON, the Department of Earth Sciences, landscape ecologist and botanist Gerard Oostermeijer from Science4Nature, and entomologist Aglaia Bouma from Naturalis.
