The Future City – festival On the Ring

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, we will celebrate one of the highlights of Amsterdam 750 on 15 kilometers of car-free A10 Ring Road. It will be a true Amsterdam-style party – with music, sport, dance, art, science, food, drinks and much more. The UvA will organise several activities, together with 8 other Amsterdam knowledge institutions, in a programme called Stad van de Toekomst (The Future City).

Ring A10

For one day, the A10 Ring Road will be the place to come together to celebrate 750 years of Amsterdam. During the festival, students, teachers, and researchers from vocational (MBO), applied sciences (HBO), and academic (WO) education will show how they are already working towards a livable future for the city. With a unique physics fair, challenging games and activities, a DJ using AI, and dance and music performances.

Experience, watch, listen, explore, and take action for the city of the future!

Location and admission

There are more than 20 different programme components spread across 3 zones. The Future City can be found in the west zone, between exits s106 and s107.

Knowledge partners

The Future City is organized by: ROC van Amsterdam-Flevoland, Mediacollege Amsterdam, Hout- en Meubileringscollege, University of Amsterdam, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Inholland University of Applied Sciences, AMS Institute, and Young Impact.

To mark the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam, these nine knowledge institutions have joined as knowledge partners of the city. During the anniversary year, they are organizing various activities. In doing so, they are forming a structural alliance to share their knowledge and demonstrate how, through education and research, they contribute to the development of Amsterdam and its surroundings—together with a broad network of partners.
