The Food Dudes programme, developed in 1992 by Bangor University’s School of Psychology, aims to increase fruit and vegetable consumption and liking in both school and home settings. The programme uses three fundamental principles to enhance children's motivation and liking of fruit and vegetables: rewards (offering small prizes such as pencils), role modelling (using the "Food Dudes" characters), and repeated exposure (daily tasting of fruit and vegetables).
As the effectiveness of the programme has shown mixed outcomes in the past and implementation is costly, this study aims to assess the overall effectiveness of the Food Dudes programme in school settings following a single post-measure, by means of a meta-analysis.
