In today's world, digital platforms shape our daily lives. Due to its accessibility, social media and pornography consumption are increasing at a fast pace.

The following thesis focuses on whether loneliness contributes to problematic pornography use (PPU) and whether this relationship is explained by problematic social media use (PSMU) as a maladaptive coping mechanism.  Furthermore, the thesis investigates whether emotional problems (depression and anxiety) intensify the pathway from loneliness to PSMU, thereby increasing the risk of PPU.

By clarifying these mechanisms, the thesis contributes to a better understanding of how personal risk factors interact with digital behaviours. These findings can help develop effective interventions by identifying individuals at risk.
