Changing your password is easy. However, please note that after you change your password you will have to give your new password for things such as e-mail, wireless internet and printing on UvA printers. This may apply to your own computer, smartphone and tablet.
Have you successfully completed step 1? Then re-enter your new password on all your (personal and/or mobile) devices in all applications where you use this password, such as UvA services (UvAmail*, printers, Wi-Fi), UvA apps (Office, Onedrive, Teams) and UvA websites (student.uva.nl, Canvas). This is an important step. There is a chance that your account will be blocked if you forget to do this, for example because your browser has saved your old password and you have tried to log in several times. After logging in several times with your old password, your UvAnetID will automatically be blocked. You want to avoid this.
*See the page Change password for mail on mobile devices for more information.
Do you use an UvA wireless network, such as 'uva' or 'eduroam'? Break the connection and reset it with your new password. This can apply to your own computer, smartphone and tablet. Read here what to do when eduroam does not accept the new password.
The UvA attaches great importance to digital security. To ensure that our students can work safely, we take various measures. One of these measures is the password regulations, which requires all students and staff to change their UvAnetID password annually (or more often if necessary) in order to work securely digitally.
You have probably entered the wrong password for your UvAnetID too many times. Please contact the ICTS Service Desk.
Note: If your new password doesn’t work, try to log in again after half an hour. Does it still not work? Contact the Service Desk ICT Services.
