Your student ID card gives you great discounts at Athenaeum Book Store, cinemas, museums and theatres in Amsterdam.
The UvA has signed another annual contract with Natura Artis Magistra (Artis Royal Zoo) enabling students to visit the zoo for just €3. The following conditions apply:
1. Students must present a valid student ID card (and proof of enrolment with a photograph if there is no year on the card)
2. The reduced rate does not apply during school holidays, weekends and public holidays.
Athenaeum Book Store offers UvA students several discounts on all English books and when purchasing two or more course-mandatory Dutch textbooks. Get your discount with your Student ID Card in its stores at Spui and on Roeterseilandcampus and for online orders with a digital discount card via the web store.
Amsterdam has numerous cinemas. There are large chains such as Pathé (€1.50 discount during the week), but smaller cinemas are often more fun and more interesting.
Take, for example, The Movies, whose 1912 origins are reflected in its stylish interior. Students are entitled to a €1 discount. Kriterion and Studio K are run entirely by students. These cinemas show Hollywood movies as well as art house and cult films. Students are entitled to a €1.50 discount. The Uitkijk has just a single auditorium and mostly shows cult films. Tickets are €1 cheaper when you present your student ID card.

In Foam you can see exhibitions of various types of photography: fashion, documentary, historical and contemporary. You also receive a €3 discount. Or visit the Diamond Museum to admire countless jewels and learn how to distinguish a real diamond from a fake one (€2.50 discount)
Do you want to know more about Amsterdam’s rich history? Then go to the Amsterdam Museum. You will receive a 25% discount upon presentation of your student ID card. Or take a glimpse behind the façade of the world famous canal belt in Museum Van Loon (€2 discount)
View the almost complete collection of etchings by Rembrandt at the Rembrandt house, where the painter lived and produced many works (€3 discount). You can also receive a €3 discount at the Jewish Historical Museum. The UvA’s Special Collections museum and its museum for archaeology, the Allard Pierson Museum, are free for UvA students.
You will also receive a reduction upon presentation of your student ID card at the following museums:
Filmmuseum, Persmuseum, Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Zolder, Museum Willet-Holthuysen, Bijbels Museum, Tassenmuseum Hendrikje, Tropenmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, NEMO.
Discounts are available at the following theatres upon presentation of a valid student ID card: Toomler Theater, Plein Theater, Betty Asfalt Complex, Huis aan de Amstel Theater, Comedy Café, het Compagnietheater.
