Smart reading skills (short workshop)

In this workshop, you will learn reading techniques to help you study efficiently and understand the study materials. You will have to read a great deal during your degree programme, but how do you read in a smart way? How do you make sure you understand what you are reading instead of thinking every time you turn a page, ‘I can’t remember what I just read’?

Content

In this short one-hour workshop, you will learn the basic principles of good reading, how to read well, in an exploratory way and quickly. This increases your understanding of what you are reading. In a nutshell, you will learn:

  • Active and passive reading
  • Exploratory reading
  • The principles of speed reading

Please note: Some of the content of this workshop is also covered in the longer workshop ‘Tackling the Books’. ‘Tackling the Books’ also deals with other aspects of study skills. So there is some overlap if you take both workshops, but they both contain new information.
