Schedules and information for second year students

Students who started their study programme in the academic year of 2022-2023 must obtain 48 EC of first-year courses in order to proceed to the second academic year. Therefore, the department of Psychology has put together different schedules that offer students who didn’t finish their first year the opportunity to complete the first-year courses in the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024.

Here you can find a presentation with general information about the 2nd year of the Psychology programme. (pdf)

Crash Courses: accelerated, compact courses

Most courses of the second semester (including Developmental Psychology* of the first semester) are offered through a Crash Course. A Crash Course is an intensive, accelerated and compact version of the course with weekly tutorials. A crash course is only possible if the course material has been studied before, and requires a lot of effort.
It’s not mandatory to take a crash course. If you choose not to please contact the study advisers for alternative planning, as this will lead to an increased study delay. Everyone eligible for a Crash Course will receive an invitation to register for it in the summer (after the results of the resits).

The courses offered in the form of a Crash Course are: Developmental Psychology* (6 EC), Behavioural Data Science (3 EC);  Work and Organisational Psychology & Social Psychology (12 EC), Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology (12 EC).
The courses Introductory Psychology and Brain & Cognition (12 EC) and Research Methods & Statistics (12 EC) are not offered in the form of a Crash Course and should be followed as a whole again.

*Developmental Psychology is taught again in period 3. However, students who wish to start the specialisation in the second semester must participate in the Crash Course of Developmental Psychology.
