The results of the National Student Survey have been published! Over 35% of all UvA students gave their opinion on their course programme and the university between January and March 2021. The results show that you have scored the UvA a 3,83 out of 5, just a little lower than the average of other universities at 3,89. Because of a different line of questioning and a shorter survey, the 2021 results cannot be compared to those of previous NSE editions.

In addition to their overall satisfaction, UvA students have also scored the university and their education on various theme’s, like the content of their course programme and the preparation for a professional career. On these aspects you scored the UvA as follows:

NSE during the coronacrisis

The National Student Survey is the responsibility of Stichting Studiekeuze123. In 2020 the organization decided to cancel the survey because of the influence the coronacrisis had on education in March 2020. Even though students were still (mostly) studying from home in 2021, this year Studiekeuze123 did ask you all to evaluate your university and course programme through the National Student Survey. It is therefore possible that the coronacrisis and its effects have influenced the results of the questionnaire.

What is the National Student Survey?

The National Student Survey (NSE) is a national survey in which over 270.000 students give their opinion on their university and their course programme. The results are an important feedback tool for the UvA to see what students think about the various aspects of their education. Results of this survey are analysed by the UvA and (where possible) used for improvement initiatives. Earlier NSE results were used to create a job board for students and alumni for example, and to make course evaluations available to students as well as lecturers.
