  • Meet Your Mentor – a mentoring programme that enhances your chances for employment

    Do you want to find a suitable job quicker with the knowledge of an experienced mentor who knows the added value of your cultural background? Are you a Dutch speaking third years or MA-student of the faculties FEB, FGw or FMG at the University of Amsterdam? Do you want to start with an orientation on the job market, learn how to enhance how you present yourself and gain more focus on your future? Then please read further and apply for a mentor through the unique programme Meet Your Mentor.

  • CARE Amsterdam

    Students and staff from the University of Amsterdam who are survivors/victims of sexual violence can sign up until the end of January for CARE Amsterdam.

  • Two UvA students receive ECHO Award 2020

    Of the four UvA finalists, Priscilla Maria and Marwa Ahmed were the two to win an ECHO Award 2020. Every year, the ECHO Award is presented to outstanding students from non-western backgrounds who actively demonstrate social involvement. This year, the award ceremony took place on 8 December 2020 through a live stream that was broadcasted from Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam. Priscilla Maria, Master's student in Medicine, won the ECHO Award WO. Marwa Ahmed, Master's student in Biomedical Sciences, won the Science & Technology Award.

  • Four UvA students nominated for 2020 ECHO Award

    Four Master's students have been nominated for an ECHO Award 2020, which will take place on 8 December. By presenting the award, ECHO gives visibility to excellent students from a non-Western background who contribute to equal opportunities for all.

  • Racism: The other global pandemic - academia is not immune

    University of Amsterdam students and staff have been speaking out against racism and have joined the protests and manifestations last week. The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) team is asking the UvA community not to stay silent. Silence condones. Police brutality and anti-Black violence cannot be tolerated.

    Diversity and Inclusion Community lunches

    The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) team invites UvA students and staff for five Diversity & Inclusion lunches. Everybody is welcome, though we especially invite those who are committed to working in cultural change, inclusion, equity, decolonization and awareness around diversity-related topics. We would like to gather the knowledge and strengths of students and staff, and find ways in which we can empower and support each other in the process of cultural change at the UvA.

  • Week against Racism: cancelled

    During the European Action Week against Racism (16-21 March), the SeSi Community Center of the AUAS (HvA) and the Chief Diversity Officer team of the UvA, will join forces to organise a week with various guest lectures and workshops. The programme is open to students and staff of the UvA and the AUAS as well as others who are interested.

    Let me tell you project

    The people who work and study at the Roeterseiland complex represent a diverse medley of backgrounds and life stories. It is high time for an exhibition with the theme of inclusion, for students and PhD candidates! Through this project, we aim to inquire into what is visible and what is not. The inclusive expression of stories at the Roeterseiland Campus will be exhibited from 4 February 2020!

    The Chief Diversity Officer's Team blog was launched on 1 October. On the blog you will find articles by the team members about what they are up to. Also you will find interesting background material and an event calendar.

    The Academic Diversity Programme (ADP) is a mentoring programme that is founded by the student platform Amsterdam United, now in collaboration with UvA's Chief Diversity Officer's team. Find out how to find a mentor or apply to become a mentor.
