After three years of hard work, you have made it to the final stage of your studies. Coming up next is graduation. But how to proceed from here?
First and foremost: you need to have 180 EC of credits in the PPLE programme to graduate. Furthermore, you need to make sure that your electives and possible extracurricular courses are approved by the Examinations Board and registered in your Academic Plan in SIS.
Make sure that at least 12 credits worth of electives are approved by the Examinations Board and registered in your Academic Plan. You can apply for approval online.
If you took more courses and want them to be listed as extracurricular courses on your diploma transcript, you will need to have these courses approved by the Examinations Board and registered in your Academic Plan as well.
You can submit a request for your degree certificate in the month
You can request your degree certificate even if you have not yet received your final result or if it still needs to be registered in SIS. Please submit your request timely to be certain that you meet all the requirements and avoid any undue delays.
However, the diploma application will not be finalised until all your grades, including the grades for your thesis and electives, are registered in SIS. The day you graduate will be the last working day of the month in which you submitted your degree certificate request via the graduation form.
To request your degree certificate, you need to send in the graduation form. Fill out the graduation form through the Digital Student Service Desk: select the option ‘I have a request or want to arrange something’ and then ‘Degree certificate (request)’.
The administration will use the form to check whether you have fulfilled all the requirements as laid down in the Teaching and Examination Regulations (approvals, enrolment, periods of validity, etc.). You will be informed of the result by email within ten working days.
If you send in your request between June 15th and September 15th you'll receive a reply within 15 working days.
Make sure you remain registered as a student at the University of Amsterdam until your official date of graduation, which you will receive via email from the Diploma department. After requesting your degree certificate you can terminate your enrolment on the Studielink website with the reason ‘Graduating’. By choosing this option, your enrolment will not be terminated if you do not pass your final result so you will have the opportunity to take the resit.
As we cannot work on the university campus at the moment, and diplomas are not being printed due to the corona virus, we do not know when your diploma will be ready. If you need a statement of graduation, we can provide an unsigned and unstamped copy. If you want, we can send one directly to a third party (in which case we will need an e-mail address). As soon as we know when your diploma will be ready, we will inform you via e-mail.
You can collect your degree certificate at the PPLE Education Desk. Please take note of the applicable degree certificate request deadlines if you will be collecting your degree certificate. You will receive a message by email when your diploma is ready for collection.
