Each semester, you are required to register for courses during the official registration period. When you register for a course, you are automatically registered for the exams, resits and the Canvas page for that course.
Make sure to register during the official registration period, because only then will you be guaranteed a place in your compulsory courses. The registration periods for the Bachelor's and Master's courses offered during semester 1 and 2 of the 2019-2020 academic year are:
|Semester||Course registration period opens||Course registration period closes|
|Semester 1||June 13 2019 (08:00)||June 25 2019 (13:00)|
|Semester 2||December 5 2019 (08:00)||December 17 2019 (13:00)|
See below for an overview of the registration periods of all degree programmes offered at the University of Amsterdam
* If you apply for a DigiD or make any changes to it, you will receive an activation code within 5 days.
Please note that you have already taken this step since applying for the bachelor's programme requires registration in Studielink.
Step 2: Select your courses
Go to the Course Catalogue, find your degree programme and select the courses you want to follow.
Go to uva.nl/courseregistration, find your courses and click on ‘Add Course’.
Go to the Planner tab and view your course timetable under ‘Open timetable’. If you have registered for tutorials, make sure that there is no overlap in your timetable.
Go to the Planner tab, check the boxes for the tutorials (WG) [or other course components] you wish to follow and click on 'Register' and then on ‘OK’.
Go to the 'Overview of registrations’ tab and check your registrations.
You can cancel course registrations at uva.nl/courseregistration. Go to the 'Overview of registrations' tab, check the box next to the course you wish to cancel and click on 'Deregister' and then on 'OK'. You can only cancel courses up until the end of the first week [or an alternative restriction] after the start of the course.
Please note: it is important to deregister for courses you do not plan to follow. If you do not attend a course for whcih you registered, the result recorded for this course wil be 'NAP' (the Dutch abbreviation for 'non-attendance, counted as exam attempt'). Moreover, you will be preventing a fellow student from occupying your place in the course.
