Mercurius, the study association for communication scientists emerged from the Mercurius student fraction in 1988, when the course was first established. Over the years, Mercurius has developed into a study association with more than a thousand members.
Every semester, the Mercurius desk offers discounted study books for all compulsory subjects and many books for electives. All members are automatically sent information about (digital) book sales.
The association committees organise numerous study related activities, such as career events, workshops, company visits, symposia and a yearly study trip (destinations in the past have included New York, Budapest and Moscow).
Members can also enjoy social events, including parties, monthly Communicatoin Science drinks, a lunch for students and teaching staff and an introductory day and weekend for first-year students.
Members of Mercurius receive Medium, a quarterly magazine that contains articles on communication science related subjects, written especially for and by Communication Science students. Since 2012 Medium is also available online at: mediummagazine.nl
Lastly, members also receive a weekly newsletter containing all the latest news and activities. There is a special English version available for international students and Master’s students.
