Diversity and inclusion have become more prominent topics and targets in our faculty and its community, as the Annual report 2019-2020 of the Faculty Diversity Office & Diversity Sounding Board shows.

Diversity and inclusion have become more prominent topics and targets in our faculty and its community, as the Annual report 2019-2020 of the Faculty Diversity Office & Diversity Sounding Board shows.

In the past few years diversity and inclusion were mainly considered in the context of improving the gender balance in tenured staff via policy measures, yet this has changed considerably since. Not only have new policy measures been developed to increase additional dimensions of diversity and inclusion in other groups as well, the report also shows that ever more institutes and individuals are interested in engaging in the sometimes difficult conversations about what they can and should do in this context.

The Diversity Office also participates in the newly established Student Impact Centre, facilitating student engagement with communities both at Science Park and in city neighbourhoods, fostering their diversity and inclusion while providing students with valuable learning experiences.

The report also presents some plans for the current academic year, like organizing a monthly Diversity and Inclusion Journal Club @ SP.
