The Faculty of Science wants to be an inclusive community where every person, regardless of race, gender or cultural background, feels welcome and valued. We are also looking for ways to stimulate diversity of our Faculty population. Do you have an idea to promote inclusiveness or increase diversity that you would like to bring to fruition? Then apply before 22 September for support from the Faculty in the grassroots projects Science4All.
Jeroen Goedkoop, project leader charged with bridging the gap between secondary and higher education, explains: 'A recent study from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam indicates that international students feel less at home at the university. Many students in such a position do not know where or how to get help and suffer as a result. We all know this, but who's going to do something about it? Do you have an idea and the energy to bring it to life? Then the Science4All grassroots funding will help you to make a start.'
You can ask for financial support for all kinds of activities, such as a symposium, cultural or social activities, PR materials or a web campaign, or a project with high school students; surprise us! We particularly value initiatives that have a sustainable or transferable impact. This means: projects that are not only relevant to the people involved, but that are beneficial to the wider Faculty of Science community – now and in the future.
Due to the current situation of working from home and online education, we are also happy to receive proposals that contribute to Diversity and Inclusivity in the context of the hybrid or online-faculty.
