How can I retain information? (short workshop)

Just reading is not enough to study all your material. You need to do something more with what you have read to be able to process and actively recall the information.

Underlining, summarising, re-reading... these are all things we do to try to retain the information we have read. But are they an efficient way of learning? Is this not a passive way of studying? What more active ways are there for retaining the most important information? And what is needed for you to store all the information in your brains?

Key aspects dealt with in this workshop:

  • Mind mapping
  • Retention
  • Repetition

Please note: Some of the content of this workshop is also covered in the longer workshop ‘Tackling the Books’. ‘Tackling the Books’ also deals with other aspects of study skills. So there is some overlap if you take both workshops, but they both contain new information.
