You will need to submit a request to your programme’s Examinations Board if you want courses taken outside the programme to be listed on your degree certificate. Make sure to do this at least six weeks before you expect to apply for your degree certificate so that the request can be processed on time.

If you plan on taking extracurricular courses (i.e. courses in addition to the 180 or 60 ECTS of, respectively, the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes) and would like to have them listed in the extracurricular section of your degree certificate, you should request advance approval from the Examinations Board.

Your date of graduation is the last business day of the month in which you applied for your degree certificate, provided you have fulfilled all other requirements by that date.
Apply for your degree certificate right away via the Digital Student Service Desk. Your date of graduation is the last business day of the month in which you applied for your degree certificate. However, please note that you can only apply for a degree certificate if you are officially registered in your programme.
If you plan to enrol in a Master’s programme at the UvA after your Bachelor’s, please ensure that your official date of graduation is no later than 31 August (for Master’s programmes starting on 1 September) or 31 January (for programmes starting on 1 February).
You will receive your diploma at the graduation ceremony. If you cannot be present, or would rather not attend, you can pick up your diploma at the Education Desk. See also: Step 4: Receiving your degree certificate.

We do not post degree certificates to addresses in the Netherlands. You can however authorise someone else to pick it up for you. If you failed to provide notice when you submitted your application but nonetheless need to authorise someone else to collect your degree certificate, please contact the Education Desk.

Yes. When you apply for your degree certificate, indicate that you are still waiting for the results of courses you took at a different university. Turn in a certified (original) list of marks at the Student Desk so that your results can be recorded in SIS.

When you apply for your degree certificate, indicate that you would like to attend the graduation ceremony. You will receive an official invitation no later than two weeks before the date of the graduation ceremony specifying the exact time, location, and the number of guests you may invite to attend.
Due to the COVID-19 measures, the graduation ceremonies may look different. Keep an eye out for the communication regarding the possibilities.
The date your degree certificate is ready for collection from the Education Desk depends on your official date of graduation. You can request a confirmation of graduation letter via the Digital Student Service Desk once your degree certificate application has been approved. The Faculty Administration needs two days to prepare the confirmation of graduation letter and you can have it sent by email or post, or come to collect it in person at the Student Desk.
No. This is due to the time needed to process the degree certificate application. You can however ask for a certified list of marks and/or a confirmation of graduation letter at the Faculty Administration desk. You can request the same documents via the Digital Student Service Desk.
