On this page you will find all frequently asked questions about UvAnetID, student ID card and ICT matters.
Your UvAnetID and your student number are the same.
You use your UvAnet ID to log in to all the digital services of the UvA. In other words, your UvAnetID is your login for all UvA systems.
You can also track the status of your enrolment on www.sis.uva.nl, by logging in with your UvAnetID.
After submitting your enrolment request in Studielink, you will receive your UvAnetID (a.k.a. student number) via email from the University of Amsterdam within 48 hours.
Check all your email folders, including your spam folder. Sometimes emails end up here
Log into Studielink to check that your personal information, including your email address, are correctly entered under the <Details> tab in your Studielink account

If you have applied to the UvA before, you will not receive a new UvAnetID. You can use the UvAnetID you received when you applied at the UvA before.
If you have forgotten the password for your UvAnetID, go to www.id.student.uva.nl, select I forgot my password and follow the steps. You can create a new password right away.
If this does not work properly, please contact the Central Student Service Desk.
After submitting your enrolment request in Studielink, you will receive your UvAnetID (username and password) via email from the University of Amsterdam within 48 hours.
Follow the instructions in the email to activate your UvAnetID immediately, for you will need it to complete your application.
After you have received the email to activate your UvAnetID account it can take up to 48 hours before you are actually able to activate your UvAnetID.
Try again after reading these instructions:
Visit www.id.student.uva.nl and click on ‘activate your account’. Your username is equal to your student number.
Double check if you have entered the same personal details (e.g. name, date of birth, email) to activate your UvAnetID as you have used to register in Studielink.
If this doesn’t solve the issue, please try the following steps:
Try to use a different laptop or computer (be advised that it is not possible to activate your UvAnetID on your smartphone or tablet)
Try to use a different browser or a private browser window
Empty your browser history, cache and cookies
Do you still experience problems? Contact the Central Student Service Desk.
You can request a new password via www.id.student.uva.nl. Select ‘forgot password’ and follow the steps. You can create a new password right away.
An expired password is the most common reason for your UvAnetID to get locked. Every now and then you have to change the password of your UvAnetID for security reasons.
You can easily change your password via www.id.student.uva.nl. Select ‘change password’ and follow the steps. You can create a new password right away.

Your UvA-net ID will remain valid up till three months after the date of termination of your registration.

If you can’t upload your passport photo, please send an email with your passport photo, your student number (UvAnetID) and your date of birth to: servicedesk-fs@uva.nl.
They will make sure to upload the passport photo for you.
You will receive instructions on how to apply for your student ID card via email. If you complete the request in time, your card will be ready for you upon arrival in Amsterdam.
No worries, you can still request your student ID card via www.mijnuvapas.nl. Log in with your UvAnetID and upload a photo that meets the specified requirements.

You will receive an email in your UvA-mailbox to inform you at which service point you can pick up the card, once it is ready for you.

Check whether your correspondence details are still up-to-date in Studielink.
You can change your email address under the <Details> tab in your Studielink account.
Log in to your Studielink account, go to <Details>
Enter your new emailing address and confirm it.
Your new email address will be forwarded to your institution of higher education.
Any changes made in the personal details in Studielink will be taken over by the UvA.
Most of the automatically generated emails from the UvA can be found on www.sis.uva.nl under ‘My Communications’.
In Studielink, you can change the following information under the ‘Details’ tab at any time:
1. First name
2. Telephone number
3. Email address
4. Language for correspondence
5. User name (not required if you are logging in with DigiD)
6. Password (not required if you are logging in with DigiD)
7. Correspondence address
Any changes made in the personal details in Studielink will be taken over by the UvA systems, within 48 hours.
Exchange students and other students who do not have an account in Studielink can use the form below to submit a change in their contact information.
