FAQ: Re-enrolment

  • What is a binding study advice (BSA) and how can it affect my possibility to re-enrol for the second year of my study programme?

A binding study advice (BSA) applies to all UvA bachelor’s programmes.

The BSA means that during the first academic year of your bachelor’s programme you will have to earn a minimum number of ECTS in first-year courses. If you fail to do so, and no extenuating circumstances apply, you will be issued a negative binding study advice and you will not be able to continue your studies.

Each student receives a study advice (positive or negative) at the end of their first academic year.

The UvA has a student support system in place. You can always contact one of your study advisors as they monitor your study progress closely and can advise you in case of issues.

More information on 'Binding study advice' can be found on the page of your study programme:

    1. Select your study programme

    2. Click on ‘A-Z’ in the navigation bar

    3. Click on 'Binding study advice'

  • How can I check the status of my re-enrolment?

You can track the status of your enrolment on www.sis.uva.nl, by logging in with your UvAnetID. You can check by yourself which checklists still need to be completed in order to complete your enrolment at the UvA.

In addition, you will be kept informed of the status of your enrolment via status updates sent by email.
