Doelenzaal - UB Singel

The UvA Earthquake Aid Committee is organising an open stage event in the Doelenzaal (UB Singel). Together with well-known poets, we will commemorate the victims and listen to each other's experiences. Syrian finger food will be offered by 'Humus and habibis'. The entry price is a donation to local organisations helping victims of the earthquake. Doors open at 19:00. The programme will run from 19:30 to 21:00.

Take part

Do you also feel the need to share your story, or a poem, about the impact of the earthquake in Turkey, Kurdistan and Syria? Do have roots in Turkey, Kurdistan or Syria and/or have you been affected in any way by the effects of the earthquake of 6 February? Would you like to meet others who are in the same situation? Anyone who studies or works at the UvA and is interested in the earthquake's impact on fellow students or colleagues is very welcome to come and listen or contribute on Thursday, 11 May in the Doelenzaal.

Poems, short stories, spoken word, slam poetry, all are welcome. We encourage speakers to do their presentation in their mother tongue (max. 8 minutes). Submit your text together with an English translation so that we can project it on a screen.

Send your text and an English translation to m.halaceli@uva.nlExternal link before 30 April.
