"Stories from the Fossil Fuel Frontline in South Africa and Ecuador"  is part of the culmination of the four-year collaborative research project Leaving Fossil Fuel Underground (LFFU), financed by NWO. The project focused on South Africa and Ecuador, exploring the North/South dynamic involved in LFFU. In collaboration with our partners in these countries, researchers and activists, we would now like to share some stories from the frontline as a way to stimulate dialogue to accelerate the movement towards a just transition.

We will address the challenges and opportunities for LFFU. Now more than ever leaving fossil fuels underground  is of critical importance. The climate crisis and the urgent need for a rapid and just energy transition is becoming more pressing and challenging given the new energy security issues and the current geopolitical context. After the talk, there will be lunch for all attendees, in addition to short presentations by MSc students on LFFU.
