A committee of the Institutional Audit of the NVAO has positively assessed the University of Amsterdam. The committee announced this yesterday during a meeting in Spui25.
The UvA was judged ‘sufficient’, which is the audit’s most positive result.
In its explanation, the committee praised the steps taken by the UvA in recent years. They specifically mentioned the updating of the Vision on Teaching and Learning and the Strategic Framework for Internationalisation. In particular, internationalisation was thoroughly investigated. The committee observed that in many places the International Classroom is being implemented with great enthusiasm and creativity.
The committee advised the UvA to clarify the concept ‘International Classroom’. Finally, the committee expressed its admiration for the way in which the UvA monitors its quality assurance using UvA Data and UvA Q. It advised the UvA to further connect its qualitative monitoring to these instruments.
The committee expects to produce a draft report in mid-January. The UvA will then be given the opportunity to respond to the report. The NVAO board is expected to make a final decision in the spring.
