From Monday 4 until Friday 15 April 2022, all students and employees could nominate their favorite lecturer for the title of UvA Lecturer of the Year 2022.

What does the election process look like?
After collecting nominations between Monday 4 April and Friday 15 April, a faculty Lecturer of the Year will be determined based on the number of nominations by faculty. The number of votes will be adjusted for the size of the program where the lecturer teaches, to ensure that programs of large and small size have an equal chance.
The Lecturers of the Year per faculty will compete for the title of UvA Lecturer of the Year 2022. The UvA Lecturer of the Year is chosen by a jury. The jury consists of students from the Central Student Council and ASVA Student Union, the rector magnificus and a former UvA Lecturer of the Year.

Who can nominate a lecturer?
Every student and employee of the UvA. The Faculty of Dentistry (ACTA) organises its own election.

When can I nomimate?
The voting period start on Monday 4 April and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday 15 April 2022.

When will de UvA Lecturer of the Year be announced?
The Lecturers of the Year per faculty will be announced during the Hour of Education on 18 May 2022 (online event).
The UvA Lecturer of the Year 2022 will be announced during the Education Day on 6 October 2022 (live event).

Previous years, the UvA Lecturer of the Year were: David Bos (2021), René Smits (2020), Elio Baldi (2019), Frank Nack (2018), Antoinette Muntjewerff (2016-2017), Bas de Bruin (2015), Joris Marée (2014), Mieke Mulder (2013), Jan van Maarseveen (2012), Gerben Moerman (2011), Sander Bais (2010), Peter Starreveld (2009), Mathieu de Bakker (2008) and Maria Bonaria Urban (2007).
The Lecturer of the Year award has existed since 2007 in its current format.

Who is organizing this award?
The Lecturer of the Year award is organized by the Central Student Council (CSR) and ASVA Student Union. They are supported by staff from the UvA Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) and Academic Affairs (AcZ). This award has existed in its current format since 2007.
