Being active, through sports or a creative pursuit, can help improve your sense of well-being. Think of the saying ‘mens sana in corpore sano’, which translates to ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’. So what kinds of options does the UvA offer in this area?
The University Sports Centre (USC) has all manner of athletic activities on offer. Visit the USC website to see your choices.

There are also plenty of opportunities for you if you enjoy creative activities. CREA, the UvA and AUAS's cultural organisation, organises courses and workshops on music, theatre, dance, film, digital media, photography and literature. In addition, the organisation produces many performances, concerts, events and exhibitions each year. CREA also lets studio space for theatre, music and dance.
A student association is the way to get to know students from all kinds of different programmes. There are associations that focus on sport or culture but there are also special associations for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer students.
