People with a disability must be able to make the best possible use of the UvA's buildings and facilities.
The UvA buildings on the Roeterseiland campus are accessible to wheelchair users. In buildings REC G and L, visitors in wheelchairs can announce their arrival via an intercom. Students and staff with disabilities can apply for access rights to these doors.
The most up-to-date maps of the buildings can be found on the website shifts.mapiq.com. This website provides interactive maps with building interiors in 3D, also letting you select modified routes without steps or stairs to a given location or facility. It also includes the locations of the facilities, including wheelchair-accessible toilets and contemplation rooms.
Each UvA building has a wheelchair-accessible toilet. This requires additional access rights in most REC buildings. Visitors can request these rights from the reception desk of the relevant building or the secretariat of the department they are visiting. Students with disabilities can request these rights via the student counsellor.
In the streets around the Roeterseiland campus, you can park free of charge in the designated parking spaces with a valid disabled parking card (GPK).
The limited number of accessible parking spaces on the REC grounds are intended exclusively for students and staff.
If you have a GPK, you can also request a digital parking permit from the municipality of Amsterdam, allowing you to park free of charge in any paid parking space.
UvA buildings at the Science Park are accessible to wheelchair users. In building G, visitors in wheelchairs can announce their arrival via an intercom at the front of the building or reach the building via the bridge from SP ABCD and F.

Due to their historical nature, a number of UvA buildings in the city centre have been provided with additional facilities to make them as accessible as possible. In several buildings, visitors in wheelchairs can announce their arrival via an intercom and/or be assisted by an employee, for example at the University Theatre, BG1, BG2 and Maagdenhuis. Unfortunately, the buildings at Oude Turfmarkt 141 to 149 are not accessible to wheelchair users and only have limited accessibility for visitors with reduced mobility, due to the numerous sets of narrow stairs.

A limited number of parking spaces are available around the University Quarter. Parking facilities for people with reduced mobility are only available at buildings BG 1 and BG 2 (during the opening hours of these buildings).
Guide dogs are welcome in the UvA buildings as long as they are wearing a clearly recognisable guide dog vest. Necessary assistive devices and small mobility devices may be used inside the buildings. Mobility devices with an internal combustion engine are not permitted in the buildings.
Consult the Information about the facilities and accessibility of the lecture rooms.
Emergency response staff are present in all buildings. If the lifts are out of use (for example in the event of an emergency), emergency response staff will take people with reduced mobility to the exit via the stairs.
