Published on 23-02-2023 12:06
To better support students with a disability or chronic illness, a new working group has been set up. It will begin with a challenging assignment from the Executive Board. By July 2023, the working group should be ready with its advice.

Carlos Reijnen, chair of the working group, is delighted that the working group got started on 16 February: ‘A lot has already been done within the UvA in recent years to promote accessibility and support every student in the right way. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic and returning to campus have brought new opportunities and dilemmas. It’s great to see that there is so much commitment and energy from all corners to address these issues.’

Members

The members of the working group are:

  • Carlos Reijnen, education director FGw (chair)
  • Michel Telkamp, head of operational management FMG (member)
  • Kim van Gennip, department head Student Services (member)
  • Maurits Huijbrechtse, student from UvA IDEAs (member)
  • Tetje Timmermans, policy officer Academic Affairs (member)
  • Sharon Nijemanting, head of Educational Policy FGw (secretary)

A sounding board group has also been set up. It can function as a sparring partner for the working group and will comment on draft recommendations and test them for feasibility and practicability.

Timeline

On 16 February 2023, the working group met for the first time. In April, they will provide a brief interim report. The final advice will be presented to the Executive Board at the end of June.
