Email is an official means of communication at the UvA. Regularly check your UvA mailbox or the email address you provided in Studielink for communication purposes; otherwise you might miss out on important information about your degree programme. Do you use Hotmail, Live Mail or MSN Mail? Then there is a chance that e-mails sent by the UvA will end up in the 'junk e-mail' folder. Check this folder regularly and mark the UvA as trusted sender.
As a UvA student you can choose to activate your student email address. The UvA uses G Suite for Education for its student email addresses. With this email address you will be able to access Google’s email functions. You can also use this account to utilise additional G Suite for Education functions, such as the digital storage space offered by Google Drive and Google Docs.
The email address you receive from the UvA will have the following structure: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note, you can only access G Suite for Education once you have activated your UvA email address.
Before you can log in at email.student.uva.nl you will first have to indicate that you would like to use your student email address by activating G Suite with your UvA-net ID. To activate G Suite, log in to the UvA Account Management system. You can activate your UvA email account by selecting Student email G Suite. You can also deactivatie your email account here.
After activating your student email account you can log in to the website and use your student email address.
Use of G Suite is not compulsory. If the UvA wishes to contact you by email, it will use the email address that you have specified in Studielink.
Would you like all your student emails to be forwarded to your personal email address? Would you like to access your student email account on your mobile phone? Or would you like to set up a second password in G Suite? You can find the answer to these questions and many others on the FAQ page or in the Google guidelines.
