UvA Economics and Business has various study associations. Study associations (not the same as a student society) are linked to a particular or multiple studies and they organise various social, academic and career events. Being a member of an association provides you with ample opportunity to meet fellow students from all years of your study programme and to get more involved in study-related activities. With 6500 members, Sefa is the largest study association of the faculty and of the University of Amsterdam. Throughout the year, Sefa organises career events, academic and social activities, and international projects for all students of all disciplines. To accomplish this, Sefa has over 40 committees in which you can participate as a student to gain practical experience. You can also buy your textbooks at a discount from the association.
The VSAE has grown into a professional association with many study-related activities and projects. The study association assists its members in their academic studies facilitates a platform where people can offer to give or request individual tutoring. VSAE also facilitates the sale of all the necessary textbooks in cooperation with the Sefa. They also run a Learning Academy and organise multiple social and career events during the year.
SFEER is the study association for Fiscale Economie and Fiscaal Recht students (both programmes are in Dutch and the latter is a programme offered by the Faculty of Law). They organise various events focusing on taxation specialists and help you prepare for your career.
The MAA is the career association for students with an interest in marketing, communication, consultancy and/or management. Throughout the year, MAA organises major events such as the Amsterdam Recruitment Event. The association also offers its members free training courses, practice-based cases in real-life consultancy cases. All the events are organised by one of MAA's ten committees. Furthermore, MAA organises social events wihch are great for networking opoortunities.
The Financial Study association Amsterdam (FSA) is the largest financial study association of the Netherlands and supports students in taking the step from university to the labour market. The FSA facilitates face-to-face contact between students and employers by organising 20 events for bachelor's and master's students about to complete their degree programmes. These students have an affinity for finance, business, accountancy consultancy or economics. It is also possible to join a committee to gain practical experience.
