Registering a specialisation in SIS

Registering a specialisation in SIS

General rules

  • You need to register your specialisation (specialisation, track or major) in SIS as soon as possible upon starting your study. You can change your specialisation at any chosen moment on www.uva.nl/courseregistration.
  • You choose 1 specialisation: it is not possible to take multiple specialisations, tracks or majors.
  • After your specialisation registration has been processed, you will be able to see all the courses of your chosen specialisation in your academic plan in SIS.

Please note! No rights can be derived from the academic plan in SIS. You should consult the official and binding academic plan of your degree programme in the UvA Course Catalogue.

Choosing a specialisation

Specialisations within the same programme often partly consist of the same course, which makes it easier to switch specialisation. You can check in the course catalogue which courses belong to a specialization. When choosing a specialisation you should think about which master programme you would like to take after completing your bachelor. You can find the admission requirements per master on the UvA website about master programmes: here you can check which specialisations are suitable for the master of your choosing.

If you need help with choosing a specialisation you can contact a study adviser.

How to register a specialisation?

  • Go to www.uva.nl/courseregistration
  • Search for Specialisation and select your specialisation by adding it to your Planner.
    • Economics and Business Economics-students search for Major.
  • Go to Planner and register for your specialisation.
  • Note: take a look at your studyplan in SIS first, to check if you are already registered for your specialisation.

Your specialisation will be adjusted in your studyplan in SIS.

When will your choice be visible?

Your registration will be processed before the start of the upcoming semester. You will then be able to see all the courses of your chosen specialisation in your academic plan in SIS and it is possible for you to submit petition requests as well as check your grades in your academic plan.
