See below for an overview of the registration periods of all degree programmes offered at the University of Amsterdam.

Step-by-step guide to course registration

Step 1: Enrol in your degree programme in Studielink

Use Studielink to request enrolment in an UvA degree programme. This requires a DigiD.* Once you have enrolled through Studielink, it may take up to 48 hours before you can register for courses.

* If you apply for a DigiD or make any changes to it, you will receive an activation code within 5 days.

Step 2: Select your courses

Go to the Course Catalogue, find your degree programme and choose the courses you want to follow.

Step 3: Add your chosen courses to the Planner

Go to, find your courses and click on ‘Add course’.

Step 4: Check your timetable

Go to the Planner tab and view your timetable of your courses under ‘Open Timetable’. Make sure that you have no overlap in your timetable, you should register for courses that have no overlapping tutorials, lectures or exams.

Step 5: Complete the course registration

As soon as the course registration opens: Go to the Planner tab, check the boxes for the tutorials (WG) you wish to follow and click on 'Register' and then on ‘OK’. In the ‘Overview of Registrations’ tab you can always find all your valid course registrations.

  • You can cancel course registrations at Go to the ‘Overview of Registrations’ tab, check the box next to the course you wish to cancel and click on ‘Deregister' and then on ‘OK’. You must cancel courses no later than the Monday of the second week of classes of the period in question.
  • Please note: it is important to deregister for courses you do not plan to follow. If you do not attend a course for which you registered, you will receive a NA registration (the Dutch abbreviation for ‘not-attended'). A NA registration is not a result, but it will overwrite a possible previous grade. Moreover, you will be preventing a fellow student from taking your place in the course.
