Graduation

Graduate School of Child Development and Education

Follow the steps below to request a degree certificate (diploma) for the Research Master Child Development and Education and the Master's Pedagogical Science, track Youth at Risk.

Please read carefully the general rules that apply to the request of degree certificates.

In order to graduate you need to follow all of the following steps:

  • Step 1: Request your degree certificate in SIS

You can submit a request for a degree certificate via the student centre of the student information system SIS when you are following your last course and are expecting to have acquired the necessary number of study points shortly.

When you log on to SIS click on ‘Study advice/degree cert.’ followed by ‘Apply for degree certificate’. Make sure to choose the correct certification date (examination date). This is the last working day of the month in which you receive your last grade. In most cases this is the month, in which you hand in your master thesis.Note: you cannot choose a certification date that is already in the past. So be sure to request your degree certificate ahead of time.

  • Step 3: Terminate your enrolment at the University of Amsterdam

You must remain enrolled at UvA up to and including the certification date (examination date). If you have requested your degree certificate, you can submit a request for termination of enrolment in Studielink with effect from the first day of the month following the certification date. The enrolment termination date that you submit must not precede the certification date. Enter the reason for termination of enrolment in Studielink: diploma received. You will continue to pay tuition fees until your request for a degree certificate has been approved. If applicable, you will receive a refund of any excess tuition fees you have paid.

  • Step 4: Receive the degree certificate

It is possible to receive the degree certificate during an official graduation ceremony or to pick it up at the Education Desk. You can indicate your choice in the online graduation form mentioned in step 2.
