Before arrival

Visa

The Faculty of Science assists all students who need a visa to apply for this visa through a shortened procedure

Accommodation

All new students receive an e-mail with information on housing and a link for the online application for student housing.

Online registration at the University of Amsterdam

For immigration formalities (depending on your nationality), your registration as a student at the UvA and the payment of the tuition fees

Health insurance

You are obliged to have appropriate health insurance for the duration of your stay in the Netherlands.

After arrival

1. Arrange accommodation

After arrival to Amsterdam arrange your housing first

2. Intake and Registration Procedure at the Service and Information Centre (SIC)

You will get an appointment for the Intake Procedure at the SIC. The address is: Binnengasthuisstraat 9, 1012 ZA Amsterdam, phone number is 020- 525 8080. Opening hours are Monday until Friday from 10.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m.

3. Contact your Programme coordinator and the International Office

4. Introduction meetings

At the beginning of each semester the International Student Network organizes an introduction for UvA students.
At the beginning of the academic year there will also be Introduction Meetings by the Educational Institutes. These will take place at the end of August

5. Dutch bank account

Your financial affairs will run most smoothly if you open a bank account in the Netherlands and obtain a bankcard

6. Registration matters

How to register with the Universiteit van Amsterdam, get your student ID card, register for courses etc.
