Organisational plan for Student Services following separation
The Executive Board has adopted the organisational plan for Student Services, following a positive recommendation from the representative advisory bodies. The plan follows a prior decision not to continue merging the UvA’s Student Services and the AUAS’ Student Affairs. The organisational plan describes the internal organisation of Student Services from 1 January 2018 onwards. The recruitment a new Student Services director is also starting.
The core of the plan
The most important part of the plan is the change from nine small teams to four departments, for which various teams will be merged. This will have no consequences for services provided to students and staff.
In many cases, Student Services and Student Affairs had separate service provision. Cooperation in service provision will continue if this was already in place, such as when arranging accommodation for international students and deploying student psychologists.
At the end of 2016, doubts were raised about merging the two services. At the time, this led to the services not being included in the plan for joint UvA-AUAS services. In July 2017 it was decided not to continue working towards a joint organisation and to prepare for separation.
