Moataz Rageb new student assessor

19 December 2017

Master's of Sociology student Moataz Rageb will begin as the UvA’s new student assessor on Tuesday, 2 January. He succeeds Linda van Exter who held the position of student assessor in 2017.

Rageb, who has been appointed by the Executive Board, will be responsible for sharing students’  perspectives with the Board, particularly on educational and student-related matters. He will maintain close contact with all students, including student councils members, thus serving as a liaison between the Board and the student community.

According to the selection committee, consisting of members of the Central Student Council, the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board, Rageb is the perfect candidate for the role.

Karen Maex, Rector Magnificus and chair of the selection committee: ‘Moataz Rageb is an enthusiastic and enterprising UvA student. He has experience serving on various student boards and had a connecting role in these positions. He has also been working towards a university environment where all students feel at home, a fitting experience for a student assessor. We look forward to working with Moataz.’

Moataz Rageb: ‘The University of Amsterdam is a place where high-level research and high quality education come together. But a top university is always on the move and ready for the challenges of the future. In recent years, I’ve worked in various ways to make the UvA more inclusive so that all students can feel at home here. I want to keep doing this as an assessor by bringing in the student perspective where it’s needed. I think it’ll be very inspiring to work with the student community, the Executive Board and the student councils to ensure that the university becomes an even better place to study and do research.’
