Vote for a new elective in UvA's Create a Course Challenge
For the second edition of the 'Create a Course Challenge' the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS) received 32 entries. And now you can vote for 1 of the 10 nominees.
In recent months, students have had the opportunity to send in a proposal for a new interdisciplinary elective course. The topics range from a course on 'human existential threats' to providing 'new perspectives on world literature'. The jury selected their top 10 an this selection is based on interdisciplinarity, social relevance and creativity. Up to 4 December, 23.59 hours you can vote on the course which you think is most relevant to be thought at the UvA. The five proposals with the most votes will eventually pass to the final on Thursday, 14 December .
During the final, the jury, consisting of Lucy Wenting (director of IIS), Antoinette Muntjewerff (Teacher of the Year) and Pim van Helvoirt (chair of CSR), determines which entry will win and will be rewarded with the realisation of the course. The winner can then immediately starts as a student-assistant of their very own course.
Do you want to determine which elective is offered next academic year? Then vote for your favorite subject and visit the finals on Thursday, December 14, 17: 00-19:00 in the hall of the Oudemanhuispoort. After the finals we all toast to the winner!
Winner last year
Last year the challenge was won by Linda van Exter with her course 'Contextualizing Refugees'. The course started last October and ends in January 2018.
